Episode Notes

Ms. Wanda Allen is a teacher at Gwinnett Online Campus, but this is her second career. Mr. Lollis sits down to talk to Ms. Allen about her career as a US Marine and what it was like to serve for 12 years - including being stationed at Diego Garcia and two overseas deployments for the War in Iraq. Ms. Allen also shares her current role in supporting veteran groups like VFW and Amvets (click on the links for membership information). Finally, she shares some scholarship and essay contest information that students should find interesting (see below).

Grade 9-12 VFW Voices of Democracy Scholarship Contest - Students and parents should read the rules for the contest together.

Grades K-12 AMVETS Americanism Contest - Interested students should stay tuned for deadline information (The entries can be completed now and turned in to Mrs. Allen, however, they will not be due until March/April).
